A much-needed presentation of K3 million cheque by Prime Minister, James Marape to Boliu Technical High School in Kavieng, New Ireland Province, will enable the school to rebuild its administration.

The admin building was burnt down to ashes in 2017.

The cheque presentation on Friday was witnessed by Treasurer and local MP Ian Ling-Stuckey, pioneer students, representatives of school management and board, and SDA leaders.

PM Marape,  an Adventist himself, was in the province for the 100th anniversary celebration of the first Adventist missionaries to Murat in 1930.

A former student, Dr Jenifer Litau thanking PM Marape and the local MP, said the absence of administration building was deeply felt by parents, students and alumni.

“Especially, it was painful at a time now that it was about to be converted from a high to secondary school the following year. Hopefully, from this devastation a new Boliu will emerge,” she said.

She said their years of prayers years were answered, with the arrival of the Prime Minister and the presentation of K3 million funding.

Local MP Ling-Stuckey urged the school board and the management to spend the money wisely because funding of this magnitude to high schools is alot of money.

“Spend this money wisely, aquit and to complete an iconic building that so many national leaders from Murat had graduated from ” said the Treasurer.

In a media statement, he said the total funding recieved to date from the Marape-Basil Government, was K3.5 miilion which would now allow the school to upgrade it to a secondary school.
