COURT SHELVES TONDOP’S SUSPENSION
The National Court in Mt Hagen on Friday stayed Joseph Tondop’s suspension on December 10.
Tondop is the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Eastern End.
Acting Judge Nerrie Eliakim through an interim order stayed the suspension until the matter returns to court on January 5, 2022.
That means Tondop remains as police head for the Eastern End until January 5. Hodges Ette, who is the ACP for Crime Division, was appointed as Tondop’s successor.
His suspension stemmed from an allegation levelled against him for having provided some highly confidential information to National Intelligence Organisation.
Tondop, when contacted said, the allegation was mischievous and ill-conceived.
He told PNG Sun that he was not privy to it, saying the chances are high that purported evidences will not hold water.
I agree with that initiative because alcohol is the main cause of many deadly, ethnic clashes, family violence and the list goes on. Liquor ban may at least lower some problems in the city.
