PM PRAISED FOR SIDELINING CZUBA

A group of whistle blowers has commended Prime Minister James Marape and responsible Minister Wesley Raminai for having sidelined Fr Jan Czuba.

The 61-year-old Polish national was the Secretary for the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

Cabinet appointed Dr. Francis Hualupmumi as the acting Secretary for the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

Minister Raminai said the National Executive Council ordered investigation into IT, Finance and Infrastructure sectors of the department. In addition, he said that was to restore credibility within the department.

A team leader of the whistle blowers said sidelining Fr Jan to clear his allegation of official corruption, was in the best interest of the country.

He spoke to PNG Sun on the condition of anonymity.

It was not about Fr Jan or any other individual for that matter. It was about the integrity of the Office of the Secretary. The office belongs to the people. It is in the national interest that we cannot allow someone with official corruption allegations hanging around his neck to continue its occupancy.

Whistle blower.

Police from National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate charged Fr Jan with nine counts of abuse of office and one count of misappropriating K4.2 million.

Fr Jan is out on K3,000 bail. He comes from Giwice in Poland. His case is still pending before court.
