PNG TO INTRODUCE VOLUNTEER SERVICES

The Papua New Guinea Government is intending to introduce National Volunteer Services to rid unemployed youths of the streets around the country.

Prime Minister James Marape in his Easter Message said: “Despite Covid-19 pandemic threat, our government is determined that the country will rise up to its challenges.

“Let me speak to the youths of our country. Many of you are not at schools. You are looking for meaningful pursuits of life. We have you covered.”

“During the next two months, I want to know whether our youths are not in our schools or are formally employed.”

He said National Volunteer Services would link with ‘continual education, SME education  and other community assistance programs.’

“Our Defence Force will put an advertisement out to mobilize youths for National Volunteer Services.

“The key contact points will be all district and provincial youth offices which will work with our PNGDF.”

“So, those who are in NCDC or other urban areas doing nothing, please keep a look out for further announcements. I want to mobilize you into positive energy for our country.”

“All you have to do is follow lawful instructions that is good for you and our country. Thus, we will utilize you to contribute positively to your country.”
