A local told PNG Sun that the accident happened along the Highlands Highway at Teremanda village in Wabag, Enga.
He said an identified ten-seater at a high speed deviated from its path and hit the students on the walkway.
It killed two instantly whilst bystanders rushed the injured to the hospital, he said.
Unfortunately, he said two more died due to blood loss at the hospital.
They all from Porgera in Laigap-Porgera District.
The culprit quickly left the scene in fear of bystanders taking revenge on him.
The students include two young girls and five young boys. They were in Wabag to participate in a sports tournament. https://www.thenational.com.pg/league-launches-super-9s/
The local added before the accident, another local invited them for a dinner.
Further, he said they encountered their fate when returning to their lodge after the dinner.
Sketchy report alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He is still on the run.
A joint security personnel towed the vehicle away to Wabag Police Station for further investigation.
