FRONTLINERS UNDERGO COVID-19 INFECTION PROTECTION TRAINING

More than 200 frontline health workers in the PNG Capital have undergone Covid-19 infection protection training to protect themselves.

It was conducted by Doctors without Barriers at the Taurama Aquatic Centre.

Those trained include all categories of health workers and members of PNG Defence Forces.

Some medical students from the University of Papua New Guinea were also trained.

Last week, the first batch saw some 100 frontliners were trained.

The training is in collaboration with World Health Organization, National Department of Health and NCD Provincial Health Authority.

Members of the other disciplinary forces and volunteers will be trained in the subsequent trainings.

“This training is part of capacity building to prevent and contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic (covid-19) if it hits the city’s shores,” said NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
