GOVERNOR PARKOP MEETS EU AMBASSADOR
NCD Governor, Powes Parkop formally met with the Ambassador European Union to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency, Jacques Fradin last week.
Having not officially welcomed the Ambassador since his stationing to the country, a in September last year, Governor Parkop paid a personal visit to Mr Fradin at the Embassy in Port Moresby.
“It would be remiss of me not to welcome you to our capital city as its host Governor, and though we have met on a couple of occasions at events, I take this moment to welcome you again. We thank the EU for your presence here and are always willing to work with our bilateral partners on shared issues affecting our people,” said Governor Parkop.
Ambassador Fradin was pleased to receive the Governor, thanking him for the visit.
The two leaders discussed mutual interests and priorities like development, the environment, climate change, gender equality and women’s empowerment.
As Governor of NCD and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Gender Equality, and Women’s Empowerment, Governor Parkop assured him of his support.
Ambassador Fradin said it was only when you come to PNG, one can see for themselves. “While there is much opportunity here, there are also challenges.”
Both leaders have vouched to work together on these mutual challenges.
