MAKING SPORTS TRULY GLOBAL, DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE
The National Capital District Commission (NCDC) continues supporting local and national sporting tournaments to make all sporting codes global, diverse and inclusive.
This value and vision were manifested on Sunday when NCD Governor. Hon. Powes Parkop pledged K60,000 to sponsor a one-month soccer pre-season hosted and managed by the Port Moresby Soccer Association.
Before the announcement, Governor Parkop was accorded the honour of kick-off the ball at the Bisini Soccer ground, signifying the start of the football season this year.
Governor Parkop said soccer was an inclusive sport widely played and followed globally, and PNG is no exception.
FIFA – Soccer’s World Governing Body values and vision are to make football truly global, diverse and inclusive for the entire world’s benefit.
“NCDC, under my leadership, shares these values not just for soccer but for all other sports,” he said.
“That’s why we keep supporting our local Association PMSA every year to encourage them to live up to these values and visions.”
“We have supported them in sponsoring two local franchises to participate in the National Soccer League. We look forward to supporting similar initiatives by our local association in partnership with PNGFA, the National Governing Body of soccer in PNG,” continued Governor Parkop.
This year the #AmazingPortMoresby will host the Oceania Soccer Women’s Championship in June.
“We look forward to partnering with PNGFA and PMSA to ensure the tournament’s success. PNGFA might also host some World Cup and Olympic Qualifying Games in Port Moresby,” he concluded.
