PRIEST FACES TRIAL FOR FOUR RAPES

A catholic priest in Madang will face trial at the National Court.

The Madang District Court which committed his case to National Court due to sufficient evidence in the case. Fr. Stannis Tipong Jnr, 35, will stand trial for allegations of sexual harassment and raping four teenage girls.

The National Newspaper reported on July 9 Senior Magistrate Fredolin Kambibel found enough evidence to commit it.

Tipong comes from Aidibal village in Bogia District.

The priest allegedly committed the crimes on numerous occasions in his house between December 31, 2018 and July 31, 2019. This is what the court heard.

He serves the Halopa Catholic Mission.

A police brief allegedly states that the priest was using force to rape them when he invited them to his house for chores.

Witness statements reportedly say Tipong warned the girls not to disclose the ordeal. He is facing 10 counts of abuse of trust and authority or dependency, one count of child sexual penetration. The priest is on bail. https://pngsun.com/2021/05/10/father-charged-for-killing-sons/
